I sent in an application in September of 2025, multiple times I had to contact them so they could resolve issues, documents not being sent to me, the application got stuck multiple times to no fault of my own, simply a button not being pressed, then I was told that I would be receiving an application at the start of December, I emailed multiple times after waiting till the 5th of Jan to not receive any response at all. Weeks of waiting all for nothing, big waste of my time. I would rate a half star if I could, best I can say is that at least the staff speak kindly over email, when they actually respond.

My time at Victoria University has been disheartening. Despite arriving motivated and ready to learn, I was met with disorganisation, poor teaching standards, and a lack of meaningful student support.

Lectures and workshops were often unclear, unfocused, and disengaging. Some staff rambled without structure, arrived late, or failed to finish content. Student questions were brushed off, and there was little opportunity for interaction or practical learning.

The tone in class was sometimes outright disrespectful. Students were belittled, feedback was unhelpful, and expectations were inconsistent — even down to referencing styles, which varied wildly between units for no valid reason.

While the university promotes flexibility and inclusion, I found the culture indifferent to the needs of mature or non-traditional students. Instead of support, I often felt like I had to push back against a system not built to accommodate difference.

This experience has taken a toll — not because of the academic content, but because of the environment. Education should challenge your mind, not your sense of worth.

Victoria University has potential, but the institution needs to listen to its students, train its staff, and deliver on its promise of equity.
So far, they’re a total failure.
